My Favourite Foods from Abroad

Daily writing prompt
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?
  • Pastéis de nata from Pastéis de Belém (Lisbon, Portugal)
These egg tarts are one of the most famous portuguese desserts, and there is no place more famous than Pastéis de Belém to try them. We came here before lunch and ended up eating a lunch’s worth of pastries.
  • Cheese Fondue (Zurich, Switzerland)
Switzerland is the home of cheese fondue, so it is not surprising that my favourite fondue was found here. I ate my Swiss fondue at Fribourger Fonduestübli in Zurich.
  • Mint tea (Tangier, Morocco)
This tea was one of the most memorable things about the country. I drank it with nearly every meal, not matter what the temperature because it was Just. That. Good.
  • Takos al Pastor (Madrid, Spain)
While tacos are traditionally Mexican, I think my favourite restaurant tacos were from a Mexican restaurant in Madrid. It is mentioned in my post on 10 Touristy Things to See and Do in Madrid.
  • “Pink Pasta” (Homemade)
I got a craving for rosé pasta sauce one day while living in Madrid, and decided to make it from scratch with my roommate. We made the sauce with nata cocina (or cooking cream), and while I have made it at home in Canada, I think the best was in Spain. If you are interested in the recipe I can link it in the comments.
